Who We Are
The Ninde Scholars Program matches Oberlin College Students to serve in a tutor/mentor relationship with scholars enrolled in grades 7-12 in the Oberlin City School District. The program also provides college access services, including workshops, college tours and financial aid filing assistance to all Oberlin community members.
What We Do
The Ninde Scholars Program, created as a community collaborative in 2004, serves students who attend the Oberlin City School District through provision of college access services. The Aspiring Ninde Scholars (grades 7-10) and Ninde Scholars (grades 11-12) are students who may potentially be the first in their family to attend college, are low-income, and may be from a group that is underrepresented in higher education. The Ninde Scholars Program provides each scholar with a paid and trained Oberlin College tutor, college access workshops, service opportunities, summer programming, and other college access and support services.
