Overview: The America Counts program in the Oberlin community works with children in grades Kindergarten through ninth grade, within Oberlin City School District classrooms and community after school programs in Lorain County. America Counts tutors work with children on mathematical concepts and includes tutoring and enrichment programming. Tutors may work with children in small groups or one-on-one, to support mathematics or in afterschool programs to assist with mathematics homework and the promotion of mathematics through enrichment activities. This is a paid position for Oberlin College students who have a Federal Work Study Award and are selected to work within this program, via a competitive application process. Program Description: America Counts tutors are hired, trained and placed within Oberlin City School District (OCSD) classrooms or community after school programs. During the off-season, program assistance may consist of both facilities support and project support for either site-specific projects at George Jones Farm or light office work for the City Fresh farm box program.
