On Saturday, May 4, please join Western Reserve Land Conservancy and other community members for the Pollinator Parade and Insect Brigade, part of Oberlin’s annual Big Parade. Participants will dress up in pollinator-themed costumes and hand out informational brochures and native pollinator-friendly seeds and plants at our table. Pollinators and insects are in serious decline and we would like to do our part to change that! Hopefully, the plants we distribute will be planted around Oberlin creating more habitat for pollinators. Last year was our Pollinator Parade kickoff. As a result of the parade and other area and land conservancy activities, Oberlin is now a Monarch City USA.
Environment and Society students are participating, creating costumes. Students and community members will dress up in pollinator-themed costumes including monarchs, bees, and flowers. FAVA and Ginko Gallery have provided beautiful hand-crafted flower props. Our goal is to excite the community about our designation as a Monarch City, USA and about the importance of providing habitat for local pollinators!
Please let us know in advance if you would like to participate. Or you can show up Saturday, May 4 at Prospect Middle School at 10am and we will provide you with a prop or costume.
Wild for Pollinators!
