Who We Are
America Counts hires, trains and pays Oberlin College students to serve as tutors in mathematics classrooms and afterschool programs, to improve numeracy, confidence/motivation, and mathematical curiosity by building strong, positive student-tutor relationships, while also lowering teacher-student ratios in the classroom.
What We Do
America Counts is a math tutoring program that provides Oberlin College students as math tutors for children in grades K-9, in the Oberlin City School District. Tutors work in classrooms at the Oberlin Elementary Building, Langston Middle School and community after school programs. Tutors are also available to assist 9th grade students at the Oberlin Public Library's Backspace at the Bridge.
